Thinking about Scopes of Practice in the IP Context, by John Gilbert

    November 30th, 2009

John Gilbert Head & ShouldersHow to approach scopes of practice is one of the many questions that confront practitioners when they are implementing interprofessional learning programs in practice settings.

Over a rather long period of time, individual professions have developed scopes that accord with perceived competencies, and which are congruent with regulation and legislation. Although these scopes of practice appear to work well for individual professions, at times they overlap with other professions and can be an obstacle to interprofessional learning and care.

There are a number of ways to address this question, which might then lead to a closer integration of learning “interprofessionally”.

Please Help by Filling Out Our Social Media Survey

    November 27th, 2009

    Hello,

Many thanks to all who participated in the recent teleconferences.   Your thoughts and feedback were invaluable and we look forward to moving ahead.

As part of Mainstream, we’re hoping to expand our reach to include members of the practice community who haven’t previously been engaged in CIHC.

One of the areas we’re looking at closely is the use of social media, both to introduce CIHC to a new audience, and to open up new avenues of discussion.   Before we move ahead on these social media platforms however, we would like to gather a bit of information on how each of you interact with tools such as Facebook, Twitter or Blogs.

Below you will find a link to a quick survey that will help us better understand how we can use these new technologies to build our network and connect with members of the practice community.

Your results are confidential and will be used for our learning purposes only.  Thanks in advance for taking the survey. Please do not hesitate to be in touch should you have any questions.

    Best Regards,

    Ellen, Val and Andrea.

Welcome to the Exciting New CIHC Blog!

    November 27th, 2009

Smash_KrugHere it is, the newly dedicated CIHC blog!  Feel the excitement.

It’s got a stylish new home and look and we’re very excited to take this major step toward building and connecting the CHIC community.

I suppose that this is as good a place as any for me to introduce myself.

My name is Sean Cranbury and I’ll be your host, guide – concierge, if you will – as we explore new ways of connecting, growing, sharing and collaborating.  I have a lot of experience working with these social media tools as well as a history of work in publishing, marketing and community events organizing.

The CIHC blog will be a place where all of us can come to see and share new information and ideas.

I will be doing an on-going series of interviews with CIHC members to hear their stories and ideas and to hopefully create new, exciting conversations.

    It’s All About Collaboration:

Please feel free to share your ideas with us.  You can leave comments on any of the posts on this blog, join our Facebook Fan Page, follow us on Twitter or send me an email directly at sean[at]cihc[dot]ca.

Your ideas for improving and growing our community are warmly received.

I hope that over time you will see this place become a fertile platform for sharing promising practices, ideas and stories.  Please feel free to contribute where you can.

    Thanks,

    Sean
